PLANTING SPACING

At this stage, any step you take will determine the rate of your profit you make at end of the day. But I will show you how to maximize your profit with little resources. We are to make use of 1 acre of land as example.
Below are tools you need:
·       Tape rule or measurement device
·       Rope
·       Digger
·       Cutlass
I will advise you to make use of 8×8 ft which will give you 1000 stand of plantain in 1 acre of farmland. What this simple means is that your row should be 8ft to 8ft column to each other. This will form a cube.
You mark the field with cutlass and u make a straight light with help of rope. You dug the hole between 40cm -50cm with help of digger. You continue with this format till the whole field is occupied.
If you chose difference dimension you have difference Numbers of plantain stands. If you choose lesser than this dimension, the number of plantain stands will be more than 1000. If you chose higher you get lesser than 1000 and these will determine your profit at end of harvest.
But it is advisable to give more space during spacing because plantain reproduces geometrically. A healthy sucker will give minimum of 5 plantain stands. So if you don’t properly space it, it will affect the rate of grown.
So it is advisable to give enough space during planting.
