I will like to remind you that this is best period of planting period is here again. Start from March of every year till September. You can also plant any any suitable time. In my own case i enjoy planting in January. This may look ridiculous that i plant during the dry season, did plantain suckers not going to die prematurely, as a result of level of heat on the soil.
You are right, also it depend on the water level of the soil. But i am sure that 90% of the suckers will not die.
To crown it up, if you can provide irrigation into your farm. either artificial irrigation or natural irrigation you will definitely get your good result and i can promise you that before end of that calendar year you will harvest the crop.
In case your land is on swamp area. This is good opportunity for you. During the raining season you may encounter some challenges like water overflow on the farm land. As you know Plantain does not like too much of water. Although it water loving plant, but it does not like too much water. When it is at nursery stage too much water affect the plantain sometime it killed it. But those that survive two months after planting they have over come the death.
During the dry season they will look healthy and stronger while other plantain are falling. By this period if you have a plantain to sell in market, i bet it with you, you will sell it at a very good price.
